August/ September 19th 2011 : LINK FEST!
Back in action after a wild Summer in Seoul South Korea, where (Charles) Mansoon was deep dark and violent. Many thanks to stellar Documentarist and artist David Chung to request from me a talk/workshop about Sound And Music for a mind blowing documentary film class in Seoul. That was a fun challenge;
The class was also lead by our friend, the fabulous Haden Guest, the most stylish and intellectually challenging film historian you can imagine, who asked me to improvise for some amazing silent movies. I got to play for some historic films by the Lumiere Brothers, but also American gems like Coney Island at Night (1905) , A Bronx Morning (1931American avant-garde film) and Rain (1929). Playing in front of the screen and letting these images make their way to the strings was an unforgettable, fun experience.
Back to the Carriage House stage and School to coach voice,guitar, song improv': The painfully hilarious Friday Night Live show is Back on September 9th
ALSO Back to School at Passim School of Music with 4 (!) guitar classes. :
1-All American Fingerstyle
2-Fretboard Logic: Harmony
3-Guitar&Voice Integrated
4- All Big Bill Broonzy, to celebrate Bob Reisman's absolutely fabulous biography of my favorite Blues and Folk legendSo that is 4 classes and you can read Read the descriptions here!
Now drum roll please:
I know an amazing writer, Paula Young Lee, who took some of my surreal true stories and wove them into this stunning little masterpiece of a book:" How to become a Homeless Frenchman". When stage bantering, I call those Bold Face True Stories because Reality does blow away the wildest of all imagination!
The book is out on Kindle, a few hard copies are around, already garnering a wild buzz !!
Good to be back!, Bertrand.
